Perched on Peir 5 in San Francisco’s Embarcadero district, Chef Russell Jackson (@dissidentchef) has created a masterpiece with Lafitte. An ever-changing and evolving menu keeps your palate on its toes and ready for whatever CRJ is ready to serve your way. My first experience at Lafitte was just a month or so after its opening in Spring 2010, the Iberico Pork we enjoyed that night wow’d our table along with fresh summer salads and creative, tasty wine pairings.

Unfortunately, I left almost a year-long gap between my first and second visits. However, when I finally placed Lafitte back at the top of my “must get to” list, CRJ welcomed me back into his space with better-than-ever dishes and newly created cocktails. Some of my favorites from my most recent trips to Lafitte were:

Butter Poached Lobster-Bacon Salad
Bacon Trio
Scallop & Pork Hot Dog with kumquat relish and stone fruit mustard

Paella de Homard (lobster paella)
New York Steak, Frites & Bearnaise
Sandab Meuniere
Seared Quail with blackberries & pea puree
Duck Egg Ice Cream

Then, just this last week, we had the special privilege of sitting front and center at CRJ’s “plank” (chef’s counter) for his Bastille Day celebration. His menu was an homage to Richard Olney; a 5-course dinner with optional wine pairings. Elegant presentation and simple, great tasting food made for the perfect celebration.
