In the perfect location on the Napa Valley floor within the Rutherford city limits, you will find Round Pond Estate. They offer very good, reasonably priced “Cab” (Cabernet Sauvignon); a varietal in which the region is known for, as well as a number of other great wines.
If you are willing to expand your horizons, beyond their signature Cab, you may be pleasantly surprised. Wether you step it up a notch and try the Reserve Bovet Cabernet Sauvignon or indulge in their reserve Sauvignon Blanc you won’t be let down. But if you are really want a treat, shoulder tap someone who looks important and see if you can get a bottle (or two!) of their Petit Verdot or Nebbiolo.
This estate doesn’t stop at wine– check out their olive oil mill across the street! Whether you want to try a traditional olive oil or an infused olive oil (infused with basil, rosemary, garlic, meyer lemon, or blood orange), they really have a great variety. Keep going and you will find some amazing Cabernet and Sangiovese/Nebbiolo/Petit Verdot based red wine vinegars.
Once you have embraced all of Round Ponds quality wines, oils and vinegars – its probably time to embrace them as a whole. The best way to this is by attending one of their acclaimed events or setting up a Garden to Table Brunch or a Il Pranzo Lunch.
