Have you ever found yourself searching for a serene, luxury getaway in the Napa Valley (I know we all fantasize about this)? Well my friends, your search is over. If you haven’t had the pleasure of staying at Calistoga Ranch, I highly suggest putting it at the tip-top of your list. Lodging in the Napa Valley can be pricey (depending on the season) and Calistoga Ranch is not amongst those more reasonably priced, but you’ll get every penny you spend and more out of it! The resort itself is nestled into the mountains, just off Silverado Trail; an easy drive to nearly every winery and eatery in the valley. Although, you may find yourself not too eager to venture out once you see all the amenities Calistoga Ranch has to offer.
With the help of our travel guru, Stacy Small, we selected Calistoga Ranch as the first stop on our fabulous honeymoon, as the place to spend our first night as husband and wife. I cannot express how wonderful, accommodating and generous the staff is. We literally arrived to the reception area (at nearly midnight post-wedding), me in my dress and Brendan still in his suit and they golf carted our newly-hitched selves to our SPECTACULAR room. There were even special snacks and a bottle of delicious wine (enjoyed later in our stay) waiting in our room for us. Worn out from our big day, we were so impressed and felt settled, knowing we had chosen the right place for our wedding night. Waking up the next morning was relaxing and perfect! Breakfast had already been placed in the separated living room, fire place going and ready for us to enjoy. Events and memories from the day before were starting to sink in and there wasn’t a better place to spend those special moments together.
The rooms, THE ROOMS! Are just incredible. Spacious and private layouts, outdoor showers (and indoor as well if you’re not as adventurous) and a two sided fireplace facing both the deck and the living room. Seriously, what more could you ask for?
On day two, we headed out and about to see the rest of our wedding guests off and ended our day with one of the best dinners we’ve ever had. The Lakehouse Restaurant at Calistoga Ranch is out of this world. We sat down and quickly decided on the chef’s tasting menu, asking their sommelier to pair wines with each of our courses– it was phenomenal, to say the least. Day three consisted of lounging pool-side (enjoying their OMG good truffle fries and delicious cocktails. Don’t judge, I didn’t have a dress to fit into anymore!) and changing our original dinner plans at the last minute. We decided to stay in, enjoying the beautiful deck and living room for our last night at Calistoga Ranch. The reception desk has a large DVD library, from which we chose a fun movie to watch and then ordered dinner in from room service. Dinner consisted of snacks (including really yummy flavored popcorn) and the BIGGEST, most delicious chicken pot pie I’ve ever had. So big, there as no way even two of us could finish, but it was the perfect fire-side, comfy-cozy meal.
Upon check-out the next morning, we were sad to depart but really looking forward to the next stop on our honeymoon; Bora Bora! Again, we cannot thank the staff enough for the unparalleled hospitality and service.
